CHICAGO — Trade Fair Manager (TSE) welcomes Cal Bates to the TSE team as Editor-in-Chief in March and recently promoted Maddy Ryley to Senior Associate Editor.

Cal Bates is a Experienced content producer, editor and social media expert with a demonstrated history of working in digital media and content production. Prior to joining Trade Show Executive Media Group, Cal worked as a web content producer and editor for WYCC PBS Chicago and the American Bar Association in Chicago. Cal holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he also studied radio and television broadcasting.
As Editor-in-Chief, Cal will oversee the day-to-day operations of the website content and manage the monthly print edition of TSE Magazine, from article assignments, editing, and working through the production and design process. He succeeds Marlene Goldman, who has transitioned to an editorial role, as the magazine’s supervisor.
TSE also promoted Maddy Ryley to Senior Associate Editor earlier this year, where she previously held the role. As Senior Associate Editor, Maddy manages digital production, from writing articles to publishing and distributing content on social media. She also manages the weekly Editor’s Picks e-newsletter.
Maddy joined TSE full-time in June 2022, after graduating from the University of Missouri in May with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, and has been an editorial intern at TSE since May 2020. She previously worked at The Missourian of Columbia as a community journalist And Vox Magazine as Editor-in-Chief of Eat + Drink. 
TSE also welcomes Kate Sikora as our Executive Assistant. Kate assists the team with a multitude of tasks and keeps our office and systems in order. In addition to this, she will assist and help manage billing, ad traffic, and also help with meeting scheduling. She comes to TSE from Town and Country Conservatories. She holds degrees in vocal performance, a Bachelor of Music from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, and a Master of Music from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
