The 39th Bangkok Machine Tool and Metal Welding Processing Exhibition METALEX (Thailand Machine Tool Exhibition for short) in 2024 will be held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center in Thailand from November 20 to 23. The Thai machine tool industry is one of the markets with the largest increase in demand for machine tools in Southeast Asia in recent years, especially driven by the automotive manufacturing industry. According to the Global Trade Observatory (GTF) data, in the first nine months of 2023, Thailand’s total import and export value reached US$429.25 billion, with China as the largest source of imports, of which imports of electromechanical products amounted to approximately US$93.9 billion, accounting for 42.8% of Thailand’s total imports during the same period.
From 2020 to 2024, the scale of Thailand’s imports of Chinese machine tools will show an upward trend, breaking the 200 million US dollar mark after 2020. In the first 11 months of 2023, Thailand imported about 259 million US dollars of machine tool equipment from China, an increase of about 10%.
