market background
Kazakhstan’s medical equipment market is valued at approximately $1.3 billion, but its domestic medical equipment manufacturing industry is still weak. Local manufacturers are unable to meet market demand and are unable to build a self-sufficient industry chain in the short term. Therefore, more than 90% of medical equipment in this market relies on imports. In Kazakhstan, the public sector is the main force in medical equipment procurement, accounting for about 85% of the market share, and most procurement activities are completed through government-led bidding processes. It is worth noting that more than 37% of medical equipment in public hospitals is currently outdated and in urgent need of replacement. The government has realized this problem and has begun to plan equipment renewal plans. For domestic medical equipment companies, this is undoubtedly a valuable market entry opportunity, which can be used to expand market share in Kazakhstan.
