FURNITURE SHOW
Why participate in MEBEL EXPO, the furniture and woodworking machinery exhibition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan?
1. Uzbekistan, along with Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, is one of the six countries of Central Asia and is also a famous former Silk Road country. It has an area of 447,400 square kilometers and a population of 31 million. The furniture and wood products industry is growing rapidly. In the past, foreign products accounted for 65-70% of Uzbekistan’s local market. Today, high-quality local products account for around 90% of the domestic market. There are currently around 1,400 companies producing furniture, laminated cardboard, woodworking materials and products.
2. Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, ranks first in furniture production, followed by Fergana, Samarkand and Namangan regions. In recent years, regions like Jizzak and Navoi have also started to develop the furniture industry. For the past 12 years, timber imports have been exempt from customs duties due to limited timber resources in Uzbekistan and the need to use local carpenters to ensure production needs for raw materials are met . Besides natural wood, particle board, cardboard and MDF board are all imported as raw materials.
