CHICAGO — South Florida Ventures, a subsidiary of Informa Markets, has secured a new headquarters at Seagis Port Everglades by signing a letter of intent for a long-term lease, reflecting the company’s plans for future growth and operational efficiencies in the South Florida region.
The 100,000-square-foot building features ample warehouse space that will allow South Florida Ventures to store materials needed to set up the show, such as flooring, tents and other equipment.
“The decision to establish a larger distribution center and main office was driven by the need to meet the growing demands of our business, including providing enhanced support to existing events and clients,” said Rob Correa, Senior Vice President of Operations at South Florida Ventures. “The larger distribution center in close proximity to FLIBS will facilitate more efficient logistics and storage for event equipment, while the main office will serve as a centralized hub for better coordination, communication and customer service.”
South Florida Ventures President Ken McAvoy said the company is prioritizing sustainability at the facility and will align with LEED certification standards.

“The distribution center was built with sustainability in mind, with a commitment to environmentally friendly practices and a thoughtful approach to reducing the building’s environmental impact,” Correa said.
Some notable green elements include:
- Low-flow, low-flush fixtures: These help save water, promoting efficient use and reducing overall water consumption.
- White roof: A white roof reflects more sunlight and absorbs less heat, contributing to energy efficiency by helping to cool the building and reduce the urban heat island effect.
- LED Lighting: LED lighting is energy efficient, offers a longer lifespan and consumes less electricity compared to traditional lighting technologies.
- Lighting Control Systems: These systems improve energy efficiency by allowing precise control of lighting levels based on occupancy and natural light availability.
- Low Carbon Asphalt: Using low carbon asphalt helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional asphalt production.
- Native and drought-tolerant landscaping: Choosing plants that are native to the region and drought-tolerant helps conserve water resources and support local ecosystems.
“Our company is poised for significant growth in the future. This expansion will involve bolstering our event teams with additional staff,” said Correa. “The most exciting aspect of the distribution center and office expansion is the opportunities it opens up for our organization. The expanded space gives us the ability to expand our operations and accommodate increased production and inventory. It creates a foundation for improved efficiency and streamlined processes, fostering a more dynamic and innovative work environment.”
