ANAHEIM, Calif. — The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) held its annual convention, the NAMM Show, June 3-5 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The NAMM Show was a huge success, generating nearly $77 million in economic impact for Anaheim and Orange County, California.
NAMM is one of the nation’s largest trade show associations with more than 10,000 member companies from over 100 countries and regions representing a community of companies that manufacture, distribute and/or retail music and audio products.
The nonprofit says its mission is to strengthen the $17 billion music retail industry. The NAMM Show spotlights independent music retailers and honors their achievements with its Top 100 Awards. The annual awards event also announced Best of category winners, including Dealer of the Year and Customers’ Choice awards.

The NAMM Show, which was booked by Visit Anaheim, the official destination marketing organization for Anaheim, not only boosted Anaheim’s independent music community and revenues, it also helped support more than 26,000 local jobs.
“With some of Visit Anaheim’s largest conventions taking place in June, the community and economy will feel their presence in a positive way with nearly $186 million expected to be spent by attendees while in town during the month,” said Jay Burress, president and CEO of Visit Anaheim. “This also translates into $2 million in tax revenue for the city, positioning our entire destination for a strong start to the summer.”

As a staple of Anaheim, the NAMM Foundation also makes significant contributions to the community. Over the years, the NAMM Foundation has donated more than $75,000 to Anaheim schools to provide students with the opportunity to receive a well-rounded education that includes music.
The NAMM Show is scheduled to return to the Anaheim Convention Center from April 13-15, 2023.
Anaheim followed NAMM with three more citywide conventions held at the Anaheim Convention Center, including the popular fan convention VidCon. In June, Visit Anaheim’s 17 meetings, events and conventions bookings were on track to produce the largest single-month TOT since 2019.
