Presentation of the exhibition

From September 25 to 27, 2024, the Russian international pet industry exhibition “ParkZoo 2024” was successfully held at the Crocus Expo exhibition center in Moscow. 337 companies producing pet products have registered to participate in the exhibition. The exhibition attracted more than 1,350 visitors, almost half (47.2%) of whom were first-time visitors.

The majority of guests (93.8%) come from Russia, mainly from the Moscow region (68.2%), the Central (8.3%) and the Volga (6.4%) federal districts. Nearly 2% of tourists came from Belarus and 1.8% from China.

Exhibitors and guests of “ParkZoo 2024” were interested in the records zone, where fragments of the tallest claw tower in the world (total height of 12.77 meters) and a bag of food weighing more than 400 kilograms.

However, the most popular part of the exhibition is the Salon of New Products, where more than 200 exhibits are presented, of which 140 are Russian developments. Most of the new products are dog and cat food.

“ParkZoo 2024” shows that Russian pet companies are responding to challenges, including import substitution. Russia’s desire for product customization and premiumization is very clear: manufacturers are trying to create products that meet the needs of different categories of pets: from young to old, active to sedentary, from healthy animals to animals with special needs. Additionally, manufacturers and distributors are aware of changing consumer behavior and understand that owners want the best for their pets. They therefore pay particular attention to the environmental and ethical nature of the products they offer.

Among all pet products exhibited at “ParkZoo 2024”, dog and cat food is the most popular, accounting for 12.8%, and pet snacks 9.8%. Pet care products accounted for 8.2%, accessories 8.1%, veterinary medicines 7.1%, bird and rodent food 6.9% and toilet refills 6.6%.

The exhibition caused an immense surge of emotion. Employees of exhibiting companies and visitors enjoy meeting new people. There is a photo area in the stands where everyone can take photos and post them on social media. The coworking space is full of energy: participants and guests of the “Park Zoo” take advantage of the opportunity to work in comfortable conditions, discuss development prospects, agree on joint projects, etc.

Many exhibitor stands are true modern works of art. They reflect the mission and goals of the pet product manufacturer and convey certain messages and ideas.

This year, Chinese companies have taken over the entire room. Many of them advertise on their stands looking for distributors, so perhaps in the future there will be a more diverse range of Chinese-made products on the Russian market. Among the products are numerous toys and clothing for pets – both practical, warm and dry, and also dressy, including carnival and New Year’s clothing. Visitors to the exhibition were also interested in cats and to “exercise equipment” for cats, especially wheels of different sizes.

Furthermore, Chinese manufacturers have provided equipment to companies producing dog and cat food.

“Zooinform” becomes the press agency for “ParkZoo 2024”. Journalists visiting the exhibition received information, photos and videos about the most interesting products and objects of the event. They often ask booth employees to explain how to use certain items. For example, the TV channel “Friday” covered it exhaustively. Even the items on display in the archive area, such as strollers and pet life jackets, were not of interest to media representatives.

Pet industry professionals are more interested in business travel through showrooms. The event was hosted by Julia Dolzhenkova, Development Director of “Zooinform”, with whom more than 30 people visited the most important stand.

The exhibition’s commercial projects are also popular. Many participants attended the “PROZooRetail” conference, the 13th Beauty Festival and the business meeting of beauty company “Milord”. The “Honest Mark” roundtable aroused particular interest. Challenges and New Opportunities”, dedicated to the labeling of animal feed and veterinary medicines. Representatives of CRPT, NAZ President Kirill Dmitriev, representatives of the veterinary pharmaceutical sector and animal feed companies directly affected by mandatory labeling requirements took part in the meeting.

Kirill Dmitriev noted during the discussion:

“It is regrettable that no such event was organized beforehand during the experiment. Representatives of the pet industry should have had the opportunity to have an open dialogue with representatives of the operators of the CRPT”.

Tatiana Katasonova, director of the media company “Zooinform”, said about the exhibition:

“ParkZoo” is not only a showcase of the company’s achievements but also an opportunity to find new partners. It is also the most important communication factor within the industry. The better market participants know each other, the easier it will be to find a common language and work together to achieve our industry’s mission: a highly interactive culture between people and pets.

The next “ParkZoo, Russian International Pet Products Exhibition” has been scheduled and will be held again from September 24 to 26, 2025.
