The Smart Cities Construction Exhibition in the Middle East and Dubai (LiveableCitiesX) is organized by DMG events, which is present in more than 20 countries and organizes more than 90 events each year.

Liveable CitiesX is not only a platform, but also an engine that drives the realization of future urban planning needs.

The Middle East and Dubai Smart City Building Exhibition (LiveableCitiesX) will be inaugurated at the Dubai World Trade Center from 26 to 28 November 2024. The exhibition includes four main sections: Sustainable City Strategy Summit, City Vision and Project Presentation, Innovative Product Presentation and Social Activities. It is expected that 500 exhibitors from around the world will participate in the exhibition and the number of exhibitors will reach 15,000. During the same period of the exhibition, the Middle East Construction Facilities and Property Management Equipment Exhibition (Future FM) and the Middle East International Geographic Survey and Remote Sensing Technology Equipment Exhibition (GEO WORLD) will be held.

Mohammed bin Rashid, Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled the City Master Plan 2040, which aims to make Dubai the best city in the world while ensuring the sustainability of urban development across the emirate and ensuring the highest quality of life for all citizens, residents and visitors.

The main objectives of the plan include: significantly increasing Dubai’s capacity for economic and recreational activities by 2040 (168 square kilometers for industrial and economic activities and a 134% increase in the area of ​​tourism service activities to become a nature reserve); permanent residents The population has increased to 5.8 million (now 3.38 million); educational and health and medical facilities have increased by 25%; public transport continues to improve, etc.

According to the plan, Dubai will plan five urban centers in its future development, including: 1. Deira and Bur Dubai (focusing on traditional culture and urban heritage); 2. Downtown and Business Bay (focusing on commercial and financial services); 3. Dubai Marina, JBR (focusing on tourism and entertainment); 4. World Expo Center (focusing on exhibitions, tourism and logistics); 5. Dubai Silicon Oasis Center (focusing on innovative digital economic development and talent cultivation).

Once the plan is completed, it is expected to achieve the following goals: 1. The population will increase from the current 3.3 million to 5.8 million; 2. The daytime population will increase from 4.5 million to 7.8 million; 3. Green and recreational areas will increase by; 150%; 4. Develop two additional major urban centers; 5. A 400% increase in the total length of public beaches; 6. A 134% increase in space for hospitality and tourism activities; 7. A 25% increase in land for education; and health service facilities; 8. 1.7 billion square feet of local civil land in Dubai; 9. 60% of Dubai’s land area is dedicated to nature reserves and rural natural areas;

The new master plan sets out an integrated approach to city centre development, providing equitable facilities, services and opportunities for all residents. The plan identifies six levels of urbanisation that follow a hierarchical structure of mixed-use and mixed-density urban centres, fulfilling specific residential and functional roles for communities within their service areas. Based on these six levels, infrastructure needs can be determined: roads and transport systems, energy and government services such as hospitals, schools, service centres and recreational services and facilities.
