Meet the women behind Trade Show Executive

CHICAGO — Behind every award-winning magazine is a group of dedicated, hardworking editors. For Women’s History Month, we’re honoring and celebrating these talented women who make it all possible every day:

Gabrielle Weiss, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief

Gabrielle Weiss is responsible for the global vision, operations and development of Trade Show Executive Media Group. Under her leadership, TSE has been recognized internationally and has also been named by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) as one of the Top Ten Magazines of the Year (2019) and a finalist for the coveted Best Cross Platform Package (2020).

In 2017, Weiss was named publisher and editor-in-chief, where she is responsible for the magazine’s day-to-day editorial operations and overall design. Prior to this role, she led content creation and communications strategies for TSE’s parent company, United Service Companies. She successfully led United’s security group branding efforts, including message development, sales and marketing collateral creation, webinar design, and the production and execution of a promotional film. She also led the relaunch of the company’s social media platform.

Prior to joining United, Weiss worked for major public affairs agencies and as a freelance journalist in Chicago, where she was nominated for the prestigious Lisagor Award for her coverage of homeless women on Chicago’s North Side.

Andrea Doyle, Editor-in-Chief

Andrea Doyle is a seasoned business events writer with over 30 years of experience as a journalist, writer, researcher and editor in the meetings and events industry. Most recently, she was editor-in-chief at Planned And Recommend magazines, Doyle has covered the global travel, tourism and meetings industries. She has also worked as an editor at Successful meetings Magazine, a senior writer at Conveneand a permanent editor at The disca New Jersey daily newspaper. His work has graced the pages of publications such as Street Review, Health and Beauty in New JerseyAnd Health and life in Bergen Review

Doyle is the proud recipient of several journalism awards, most recently a Gold Award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) for a Successful meetings She wrote a story about software giant Oracle’s efforts to make its conference more environmentally friendly. This is the second ASBPE Gold Award she has won. The first was for a profile she wrote about Dr. Bruce Charash. His organization, Doc to Dock, takes what would be medical waste in the United States and ships it to developing countries, saving countless lives. Another story she helped write about improving meeting efficiency was honored as a finalist for the Jesse H. Neal Award for Overall Excellence. She has also received a Travel Media Showcase Journalist Award, a SITE Journalism Award and a New Jersey Press Association Scholarship.

Carri Jensen, Director of Research

Carri Jensen joined TSE in 2011 as Directories Manager. Jensen leads the research team responsible for compiling all of TSE’s annual directories, including the World’s Top Convention Centers Directory, Who’s Who Mega Guide, Gold 100 Directory and Fastest 50 Directory. She also oversees the production of TSE’s monthly Trade Show Performance Dashboard, TSE’s monthly ZOOM Trade Show Calendar, a number of TSE statistical reports and custom research projects. She serves on the planning committee for the TSE Gold 100 Awards & Summit and the TSE Fastest 50 Awards & Summit.

Jensen worked for 14 years at Reed Business Information, where she was the editor of directory publications for Tradeshow Week. Carri began her publishing career in the sales department of another Reed publication, The Parker Directory of California Attorneys.

Sue Pelletier, Editor-in-Chief

Sue Pelletier Enjoys A Cruise Excursion In The Caribbean.

Sue Pelletier has been a long-time business events journalist. She is known for her work at several of the meetings industry’s leading publications for the corporate, incentive, association and medical/pharmaceutical meetings and events markets. Her passion for all things meetings, events and business travel has driven her to explore all avenues of this complex industry. She prides herself on providing coverage that empowers meetings professionals to do their jobs faster, better and more strategically. In addition to writing news articles and features, she also specializes in writing print, online and social media commentary, as well as the industry’s first blog.

Maddy Ryley, Editorial Intern

Maddy Ryley started at Trade Fair Manager in May 2020 as an editorial intern and upon graduation will serve as an associate editor for the magazine. She is currently attending the University of Missouri and will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in May. While living in Columbia, MO, Ryley worked as a community reporter for the Missourian and was a writer and editor at Vox Magazine for its Eat + Drink section. She is delighted to continue writing, editing and helping with social media campaigns at TSE, and covering the dynamic and innovative trade show sector.
