DETROIT — MAD Event Management and Sitarian Corporation have joined forces to create the Electric Vehicle + Energy Infrastructure Innovation & Sustainability Exchange (the EV Exchange), which will be held June 21-22, 2022 at the Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit.
The exchange will draw on community-led research and analysis, combined with in-depth meetings and think tank-style programming, as well as virtual and face-to-face briefings, conferences and trade shows.
The EV Exchange focuses on three key stakeholder communities: electric vehicle manufacturers and suppliers; energy entities, utilities and other infrastructure needed to create a backbone for an influx of electric vehicles; and state, local and federal regulatory and policy agencies.
President Biden’s goal of electric vehicle sales accounting for 50% of auto sales by 2030 makes this collaboration even more essential.
“It’s an incredible feeling to have the opportunity to lead a program that will make a difference and is dedicated to positively impacting national and global climate and environmental initiatives,” said Paul Sitar, CEO of Sitarian Corporation and creator and director of the EV Exchange. “Sitarian was fortunate to have MAD Event Management build key relationships with the City of Detroit and have a long-standing friendship with Richard Mroz, an energy and utility expert with extensive experience working with the public sector. It was incredible to bring all of these resources together to deliver a unique and strategic program for the industry and the City of Detroit. There is no better city on the planet for the EV Exchange to launch and manage this premier program in electric vehicles and next-generation mobility.”
When discussing the White House’s infrastructure bill to combat climate change, President Biden appeared in town emphasizing GM’s push toward electric.
“Paul (Sitar) and I had been discussing our shared career goals in precision event planning for several years, so when he approached us with the idea of EV Exchange, it was a natural fit for Sitarian and MAD Events,” said Martha Donato, Founder and President of MAD Event Management. “Being on-site in Detroit, the undisputed automotive capital of the world, with EV Exchange is a career highlight. We have already received tremendous support from the City of Detroit and various industry groups.”
An EV Trade Industry Advisory Committee that will lead content and discussions is being developed.
EV Exchange isn’t Donato’s first event in Detroit. She recently launched an event, the Side Hustles & Opportunities Conference, designed for people who want to start a side hustle or go freelance.

“Visit Detroit CEO Claude Molinari, Karen Totaro and Greg DeSandy of Huntington Place (formerly the TCF Center) welcomed us with great enthusiasm. I can’t say enough good things about the reception we received in Detroit. They opened every door for us. Side Hustles was created in collaboration with Tom Mitchell, President of Messe Düsseldorf North America, and has led to not only Side Hustles & Opportunities but many other projects we are considering,” Donato said. “Detroit wants to focus its resources on launching B2B and B2C events. The city’s event infrastructure, including its world-class convention center, CVB, international airport, hotels and special event venues, presents an exceptional opportunity,” Donato said.
