Presentation of the exhibition

The African (Ghana) Power and Energy Exhibition (MWA) is carefully planned and organized by the prestigious Middle East International Exhibition Group. It has been successfully hosted four times and is one of the most influential professional exhibition events in Ghana.

On MWA, an excellent exhibition platform, global energy industry leaders, innovation pioneers, scientific research institutes and their representatives will come together to participate in this grand event and explore cutting-edge technologies in depth in the field of renewable energies. Among them, innovative breakthroughs in solar photovoltaic technology, efficient development and utilization of wind power, revolutionary breakthroughs in energy storage technology, etc., as the shining pearls of green technology , will complement each other in Ghana, a land that breeds hope, and jointly describe the future of energy development.

The much-anticipated fifth Ghana Power and Energy Expo is scheduled to hold from July 22-24, 2025 at the International Conference Center in Accra, the capital of Ghana. This show is expected to attract more than 300 exhibitors from more than 12 countries and more than 15,000 professional visitors to visit and discuss.

It is an energy event that brings together global wisdom and innovative energy. It not only illuminates Africa’s new green development journey, but also provides a strong impetus to the sustainable development of the global energy industry. Previous exhibitions have received strong support and recognition from authoritative organizations such as the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the China-Ghana Friendship Association, the Ministry of Business Development of Ghana, Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Investment Promotion Center and Ghana. -Chinese Friendship Association.

Market analysis:

Ghana is located in West Africa, on the northern coast of the Gulf of Guinea, bordering Ivory Coast to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the south, with a coastline of approximately 562 kilometers. Ghana is rich in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and biomass, making renewable energy a popular area of investment in the country.

Ghana’s hydroelectric power stations are the main source of electricity supply, particularly the Akosombo Hydroelectric Station and the Bon River Hydroelectric Station. The Akosombo Dam is one of Ghana’s main electricity pillars, utilizing the hydroelectric resources of Lake Volta. Ghana also produces electricity through thermal power plants fueled by natural gas and oil. The Takradi thermal power plant depends on natural gas from the West African gas pipeline. As the supply of natural gas gradually increases, the contribution of thermal power generation also increases steadily. In recent years, Ghana has committed to developing renewable energy, including solar and wind power projects. The projects are supported by governments and international organizations and aim to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and hydropower and improve electricity shortages.

Despite the development of Ghana’s electricity infrastructure, the country still faces electricity shortages and unstable power supply. Power outages are common, especially during the dry season, when reservoir levels drop, affecting hydropower capacity. In addition, aging and poor maintenance of electricity infrastructure is also a problem.

Urban water supplies in Ghana, such as Accra and Kumasi, have relatively well-developed water supply infrastructure, although problems of insufficient water supply and water quality remain. Piped water penetration is high, but water services are under increasing pressure due to aging infrastructure, population growth and urban expansion. In rural areas, many households rely on natural water sources such as wells, rainwater harvesting and rivers. Although governments and international humanitarian organizations have invested in improving rural water supplies, access remains limited. Water treatment facilities in many remote areas are insufficient, resulting in poor drinking water quality, and contamination of water sources is a common problem.

Ghana’s sewage treatment system is seriously lagging behind, particularly in the cities, where there is a lack of sewage treatment plants and adequate pipe network systems. Most homes rely on septic systems and only a few areas have access to city sewer systems. This leads to pollution of urban water bodies and public health problems. Due to the lack of adequate wastewater treatment, industrial and agricultural wastewater is often discharged directly into rivers without treatment, leading to serious water pollution, especially in rivers and lakes near cities.

The Ghanaian government is actively promoting reforms in the energy and water treatment sectors. In response to electricity supply problems, the government is encouraging domestic and foreign investors to participate in renewable energy and thermal energy production projects. At the same time, the government is also cooperating with a number of international organizations, such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank, to improve water supply and water treatment systems, including construction water treatment facilities in rural areas.
