TOKYO – After a COVID-induced hiatus in 2020, Interpets Asia Pacific – the international trade show for a better life with pets – almost didn’t happen at the show floor in 2021. In early January, the Japanese government declared a month-long state of emergency that was extended until March 21. Fortunately, the show returned for its 10th year from April 1-4, 2021 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan’s largest international exhibition center.
The show organizer, Messe Frankfurt Japan, has worked proactively and closely with local authorities and the venue operator to affirm precautionary measures and provide attendees with a safe and efficient business meeting environment.

Interpets has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2011 and is now recognized by overseas manufacturers as the only gateway to the Japanese pet market, the second largest pet market in the world.
Public health measures deployed included the wearing of face masks and hand sanitization, on-site body temperature checks, frequent disinfection of fair facilities and distancing measures for all attendees.
“This is our first time participating in Interpets Asia Pacific,” said Tomoyuki Ota of Marfied Co Ltd, an exhibitor. “The visitor flow was high and exceeded our expectations. Many potential customers with specific needs visited our booth. In particular, on the first day, we received inquiries from buyers representing a variety of different industries with the potential to bring us new business opportunities. We are excited about Interpets Asia Pacific 2021.”
Interpets successfully concluded four days with 28,387 visitors, 327 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions and 13,736 pets making their way to the show.
