CES is back! CTA beats its own forecast and attracts more visitors

LAS VEGAS — The Consumer Technology AssociationCTA Annual Report Consumer Electronics Show (CES) exceeded its own projections and brought together thousands of exhibitors and more than 115,000 attendees on nearly 2.2 million square feet from January 5 to 8, for an edition of the show that was more than 70% larger than last year’s.

CES, the world’s largest consumer technology event, took over the 2.5 million-square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center and other venues across the city to showcase the industry’s latest trends, products and innovations. More than 3,200 companies were present at this year’s show, 42% of which were new to CES and many of which were in larger exhibit spaces than last year. 173 countries, territories and regions were represented. All the major brands that were absent from the 2022 edition returned for the 2023 edition.

This year, four guided tours were held, including on automotive, startups, healthcare and the metaverse, a new feature for the 2023 show. The Web3/metaverse floor featured activations and focused on how technologies, including for the metaverse and cryptocurrency, can change the way people live, work and play in an inclusive virtual world.

“The great thing about CES is that we get to see innovations that promise to change our world for the better,” said Gary Shapiro, CTA president and CEO. “Technological advances are helping to solve the world’s biggest challenges, and CES 2023 will set the agenda for the year ahead.”

The booths were engaging and interactive, with some of them designed over two floors, giving them a two-story feel. According to Freeman, the show’s general contractor, there were at least 10 two-story booths, and they maximized the exhibit space by creating a two-story design for more engagement opportunities, like meeting rooms and lounges.

Sustainability was also a major focus at CES 2023, with brands and startups demonstrating how technology can contribute to sustainability efforts. Technologies and products that save energy, increase electricity production, address food shortages, power smart cities, and increase access to clean water, among other things, were on display at the show.

A record number of Congress delegates were in attendance, allowing the technology industry to showcase how they do business and how government policy can support them as they continue to innovate and create products and technologies that can have major impacts on the world.

For those unable to attend, registration for the digital space is still open, which provides access to keynotes, session recordings, and exhibitor showcases. Registration is available at: https://registration.experientevent.com/ShowCES231/wizard/landing

CES 2024 will take place January 9-12 in Las Vegas, which has already sold out more than a million square feet of exhibit space and sold out the West Hall.
