CES 2025: the technology show expands to new areas

With the help of 4,500 exhibitors, including 1,400 startups, in front of 141,000 attendees, the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 lived up to its reputation as one of the world’s leading technology events by highlighting the intersection of AI with humanity, highlighting technologies focused on accessibility, and the beginnings of conferences on the energy transition and quantum computing.

Attendance figures at CES 2025 marked an annual increase of about 2% from the previous year, when CES 2024 attracted 138,000 attendees.

A spokesperson for the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organizes the annual technology event, attributed the increase to innovations that abound “not just in the living room, but in every detail that makes the living room possible,” specifically pointing to a new website that has debuted. just in time for the show, which runs January 7-10.

CES took place at 12 official venues, but the heart of the event, the trade show, spanned an impressive 2.5 million square feet at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) and the Venetian Expo Center.

Content surrounding the new quantum computing track was developed in partnership with Quantum World Congress to “highlight the transformative potential of quantum in security, sensing and high-performance computing,” a CES representative said at TSNN.

Keynotes with top tech CEOs

Industry breakthroughs were also the subject of NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote address at the 12,000-seat Mandalay Bay Michelob ULTRA Arena. Huang spent the 90-minute presentation detailing how AI has revolutionized computing. But he didn’t just talk the talk, he took the step by introducing the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, which packs insane computing power to deliver higher resolutions and blazing-fast memory for an enhanced gaming experience .

Accessibility is becoming more widespread

Despite the complex nature of these new technologies, much of the programming at CES sought to highlight their practical applications. This was especially true throughout its accessibility study, which, as Forbes puts it, “brought accessibility mainstream,” citing 2023 data from DisabilityTech that valued the market at a whopping $25 billion.

At the show, accessible technology included a range of smart glasses, such as those from Nuance Audio with built-in hearing aids, as well as a range of high-tech glasses and sunglasses from Meta’s partnership with Ray-Ban , allowing vision-disabled users to receive visual aids in real time.

More networking

The CTA also spearheaded a renewed effort this year to offer more specific networking events for various technology segments. Hence the “Accessibility & AgeTech Reception” organized in partnership with Amazon, Salesforce and the non-profit organization MITRE. Other new networking opportunities this year include The Digital Health Mixer and Smart Home Mixer, as well as breakfasts for technology professionals in the retail and mobility industries, according to a CTA representative.

Mobility at the forefront

Speaking of mobility, this sector received a lot more attention at CES 2025 with the all-new “Mobility Stage” in the LVCC West Hall that highlighted the latest advances in transportation and smart cities. Unsurprisingly, autonomous and electric vehicles have taken center stage, with automotive giants using CES to launch their latest creations.

Perhaps the most futuristic of the vehicles on display was Aptera Motors’ solar-powered three-wheel electric vehicle offering, which has already garnered around 50,000 pre-orders. Priced at a modest $40,000, the sustainable vehicle can generate up to 40 miles of range per day using solar power alone.

As part of the increased focus on mobility, a speech was also held on the topic, hosted by Volvo Group President and CEO Martin Lundstedt, who spoke about the auto giant’s efforts towards net zero emissions. This was one of seven conferences that took place throughout the four-day event, one of which was hosted by Panasonic with a DJ set by Steve Aoki.

Delta’s keynote speech at The Sphere

Arguably the most buzzed about due to its scale was Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian at The Sphere, where he unveiled a partnership with Uber to allow Delta SkyMiles members to earn points on Uber trips and Uber Eats deliveries will take place this spring. This was the first time CES had used the venue, which opened shortly before CES 2023. (Hewlett Packard Enterprise was the first to host a corporate keynote at The Sphere last year, which you can learn more here.)

CES 2025

To amplify everything that was new and remarkable at CES 2025, another all-new activation dubbed “CES Creator Space” presented by Sony. Here, 6,000 media and content creators were invited to listen to the Pinterest-sponsored “Creator Stage” with three days of programming focused on storytelling, content monetization, brand partnerships, rights and ownership, and more. even more.
