Market Analysis
Latin America is an important market for the global food industry, and cost remains an important concern for raw material importers in the region. A 2019 FAO report shows that between 2000 and 2013, the demand for food ingredients and additives in the Latin American processed food market increased by 25%. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased the purchasing demand of consumers in Latin America for processed foods with advantages such as convenience and long shelf life. As the main source of global food ingredients and additives, Chinese exhibitors have a strong competitive advantage.
With a population of over 200 million, Brazil accounts for about 70% of the South American market. Its food ingredients market size is expected to grow from US$22.4 billion in 2023 to US$23.75 billion in 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.18% during the forecast period (2023-2028). This is a very promising market for Chinese companies.
