Deutsche Messe AG announces new investments

HANOVER, Germany — After a difficult pandemic period, Deutsche Messe AG announced that its figures are back on track and that it will invest further in the expansion of new activities, digitalisation and the attractiveness of its Hanover exhibition centre.

Deutsche Messe AG is one of the world’s largest trade fair companies. It organises more than 150 trade fairs and events each year in Germany and abroad, including in China, Australia, Canada, Mexico and Italy. In addition to the leading international trade fairs, the Hanover location also hosts corporate events, conferences, major events and concerts.

After a record year in 2023, with sales of 354 million euros and profits of 46 million euros, the group’s financial figures are also back on track for the current year. Last year, Deutsche Messe organised 76 trade fairs and events in Germany and abroad for more than 27,000 exhibiting companies and 4.7 million visitors. The figures for 2024 will be lower than those for 2023, as some events only take place every two years, but the company hopes to achieve its sales target of 282 million euros and organise 67 trade fairs and events worldwide.

“Our trade fairs in Germany and abroad are very popular with exhibitors and visitors alike,” said Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG. “This will enable us to invest even more in the coming months and years.”

“Deutsche Messe AG will continue to modernize its halls and infrastructure. Our internal sustainability program Fair2Future aims to make the exhibition center CO2-neutral by 2035. The digitalization of our offerings will also continue, whether in the area of visitor tracking, AI-assisted visitor orientation or out-of-home digital signage.”

This year, a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of Hall 19/20 and Hall 4 in Hanover will be transformed into a CO2-neutral exhibition hall by mid-2025.

Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Olaf Lies, has been elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Messe AG. He brings with him extensive knowledge of the German and international trade fair market as well as international business expertise.
