2. Exhibit scope
The ASFW exhibition covers multiple areas of the textile industry, including but not limited to:
Textile machinery: including textile, garment machinery and related equipment, parts, etc.
Textile fabrics: including synthetic fiber fabrics, natural fiber fabrics, yarns and fibers, etc.
Clothing: all kinds of casual clothes, sportswear, swimsuits, work clothes, dresses, etc.
Household textiles: home textile fabrics, auxiliary materials, sofas, curtains, bed textiles, etc.
In addition, the exhibition also involves many related fields such as microsystem technology, textile care, packaging technology, machinery, and processing technology.
3. Exhibition characteristics and value
Highly professional: ASFW is one of the most large and influential textile and garment machinery exhibitions in Africa, attracting a large number of international exhibitors and audiences to participate.
Promote the development of the industry: The exhibition provides a platform for exchanges and cooperation for participating companies and professional audiences, and promotes the development of the textile industry in Ethiopia and even Africa.
Policy guidance and support: The Ethiopian government has vigorously developed the textile and garment industry through measures such as issuing new laws and formulating industrial revitalization plans. The holding of ASFW has further promoted the development of the industry.
In summary, Ethiopia is a member of the “Common Market of Southeast Africa” (COMESA) and the “Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Organization” (ACP) and enjoys comprehensive preferential arrangements except for the United States’ African Growth and Opportunity Act and the EU’s weapons. “The policy on tariff-free and quota-free African products, and promises to join the “Common Market Free Trade Zone of Southeast Africa” (COMESA FTA), which has certain convenience for exports to surrounding and American and European countries.
Ethiopian preferential policies support: all investment capital goods are 100% exempt from import customs duties and other taxes involving imports. Components worth up to 15% of the value of imported investment capital goods, products that are not produced locally and cannot be obtained at the same quantity, quality and price, will enjoy the same duty-free treatment. Raw materials required to produce exported products will be exempt from customs duties or other taxes involving imports. Import tariffs on finished chemical fiber fabrics are mostly 35%, while imported chemical fiber yarns are only 5%. Chemical fiber fabrics are popular in Africa. Fabrics produced in Ethiopia can also be exported to 20 African countries and imported under preferential tariffs.
