The Saudi Big 5 Industry Exhibition (Saudi Big 5) is one of the five most influential industry exhibitions in Saudi Arabia. It is organized by the British DMG Group, a well-known international exhibition group, and is held once a year. It has been successfully held for twelve sessions since 2010. The exhibition has received strong support from relevant Saudi government departments.
The last exhibition had more than 1,300 exhibitors from 47 countries, with an exhibition area of 80,000 square meters and a total of more than 55,000 visitors. More than 60 keynote speeches were held at the exhibition site.
Due to the extraordinary popularity of the Saudi building materials market, the exhibition halls in previous years were not enough. In order to meet the huge demand of the market, the Saudi Big5 will be expanded to four phases in 2025 (double February, double September).
From February 15 to 18, 2025, Saudi Arabia’s five major industry exhibitions will be held at the Frontier Expo Center in Riyadh. The number of exhibitors is expected to exceed 2,000, the number of participants will reach 55,000, and the exhibition area will exceed 80,000 square meters.

market opportunity
Construction and building materials: Global data shows that the average annual growth rate of Saudi construction industry output will reach 4% from 2023 to 2026. Under the Ministry of Housing’s ESKAN project, the government plans to build 500,000 housing units.
In order to realize Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” and promote the diversified development of the Saudi economy, the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund (PIF) launched five ultra-large project plans (collectively referred to as “giga” projects) a few years ago: New Future City Project (NEOM), Qidi Qiddiya, Red Sea, Roshn and Diriyah. Among them, the NEOM project alone has a committed investment of US$500 billion.
In September 2021, the total contract value of the Giga project was only US$9 billion, but by 2022, the total contract value during the same period would reach US$26 billion, and it would almost double again in September 2023.
As of 2023, Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure market has reached US$34.46 billion, and this number is still rising. Experts predict that the market will continue to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 4.48% in the next five years, and is expected to reach US$42.89 billion by 2028. The construction industry is expected to contribute US$100 billion to Saudi GDP by 2025. This will be a golden period for construction and engineering companies.
In infrastructure construction, materials and equipment are an indispensable part. From cement and steel to advanced construction machinery, Saudi demand for construction materials is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 5.2%.
In the next few years, Saudi Arabia will host many world-class events such as the 2030 World Expo, 2027 Asian Cup, 2029 Asian Winter Games, 2034 Asian Games, and 2034 World Cup. The construction of venues will undoubtedly bring more opportunities to the construction industry.
The latest Global Construction Industry Monitor released by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) shows that Saudi Arabia’s construction industry activity index is the strongest in the world. In the third quarter of 2023, the Saudi index was 69%, indicating the continued impact of large-scale construction industry projects in the Kingdom.
Air conditioning and refrigeration: Saudi Arabia has a tropical desert climate with high temperatures all year round, especially in the summer when the daily maximum temperature is above 50 degrees Celsius. Air conditioning is commonly used frequently.
Currently, the market demand for refrigeration and HVAC systems in the entire Gulf region reaches US$6.3 billion. Saudi Arabia, as the world’s third largest HVAC system demand market, accounts for 51% of the entire Gulf region. It is expected that Saudi Arabia’s HVAC market demand will increase by US$480 million. Saudi Arabia’s air conditioning market is one of the largest in the world, and is regarded as the world’s third largest HVAC equipment system demand market after the United States and India!
Saudi Arabia is also one of the largest countries in the world in the use of air-conditioning equipment. The demand for air-conditioning equipment in Saudi Arabia increases by 6% annually. The current air-conditioning market value is US$500 million.
Saudi Arabia currently imports more than 13,000-24,000 units of air-conditioning equipment every year, with a total value of more than 1 million US dollars.

The Saudi government is also investing heavily in hospital construction. For example, Saudi King Salman approved a 1 billion Saudi riyal (approximately $267 million) health care project that will build a 500-bed hospital in the capital Riyadh. At the same time, the Saudi government also plans to build a hospital in Riyadh dedicated to treating kidney diseases. The hospital will have 100 beds and provide advanced kidney treatment technology and equipment.
