Vietnam is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing economies in the ASEAN region. Vietnam’s oil and gas industry is on a continuous growth path. Currently, Vietnam’s oil and gas industry is the country’s largest source of foreign exchange earnings.

Vietnam is very rich in oil resources and its crude oil reserves are second only to China in East Asia. Since the Dung Quat refinery came into operation in 2009, it has produced about 30 million tonnes of crude oil and met 30% of the country’s energy needs.

In addition, the oil and gas industry contributes 28-30% to Vietnam’s national budget annually. Oil and gas companies from various countries are actively considering establishing business and investment opportunities in Vietnam.

The expansion of offshore exploration and production has created a larger and steadily growing market for Vietnam’s offshore oil and gas equipment and services.

However, due to the lack of equipment related to oil extraction, the size of local oil fields is generally small. At present, 90% of local oil equipment depends on imports, and Chinese equipment accounts for nearly 80% of its share. The Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation is actively looking for partners to build oil and gas refineries. Its production target is from 2020 to 2025. to reach 1.1 to 1.2 million barrels per day.
