NEW YORK – With the aim of redefining the trade show experience, Informa Markets Fashion has created the PROJECT NY retail concept store, It is said to be the first pop-up store to open its doors to the public on the sidelines of a trade show. Blending art, culture and commerce, the pop-up store is run by Maurizio Donadi, an industry veteran who has worked for brands including Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren and Levi’s Strauss & Co.
“We are thrilled to introduce a unique retail concept that offers consumers an exclusive opportunity to take home a piece of history, including one-of-a-kind items hand-selected from the Maurizio Donadi archives,” said Edwina Kulego, VP of International and Business Development at Informa Markets Fashion. “With a city full of diversity and culture, New York seemed like the perfect place to challenge the norm and embrace a new way of doing business.”“
Home to cutting-edge retail events such as PROJECT, MAGIC, COTERIE and SOURCING at MAGIC, Informa Markets Fashion has created the PROJECT NY Retail Concept Store, an exclusive retail concept pop-up store, which will open for two days in conjunction with the upcoming PROJECT New York, scheduled for July 18-19 at 14 W. 24th St. in Manhattan, adjacent to New York event venue Iron 23.
Titled “Art, Artists and Artisans: PROJECT NY Retail Concept Store,” this pop-up retail store is the first in a series of projects designed to demonstrate PROJECT’s commitment to reimagining the trade show experience and inspiring conversations about creative and trustworthy practices within the business events industry and trade show community.
“Maurizio Donadi’s archive is a fashion treasure trove, and we are incredibly honored that he is partnering with us to showcase and sell his iconic and unique denim pieces, along with a carefully curated selection of what’s next in menswear,” said Kulego.

According to Kulego, this year’s PROJECT New York is specifically designed to reflect the times and will feature a carefully curated collection of contemporary and gender-fluid men’s brands. For the first time, PROJECT will welcome the consumer into this experience.
“Combining this with the venue’s iconic location and layout, we can create a unique alliance between the business and consumer market segments. PROJECT was born in Manhattan and we felt it was fitting to introduce this new format where it all began,” Kulego explained.
In addition to the Donadi Archive, the pop-up retail space will feature a dozen carefully curated brands showcasing the brand’s ephemeral, artisanal, and upcycled/responsible clothing, accessories, and footwear from around the world, and will be available only during these two days. Curated by Donadi, this one-of-a-kind retail store will sell unique “made in Japan” vintage jeans from Donadi’s archives at TRANSNOMADICA.
Donadi is proud to announce its partnership with PROJECT. “As a team, they are committed to redefining the retail experience and our collaboration involves a series of initiatives designed to spark a dialogue between creativity and responsible practices. Retail has always been important to me, so the opportunity to create this two-day pop-up is both an adventure and an energizing creative invitation. All the more reason to be a part of it.”
