Market Background
From the 18th century to the early 20th century, Britain dominated the international woodworking machinery manufacturing industry. After 1915, the dominant position gradually shifted to the United States. In the early 20th century, due to the advantages of the United States in objective conditions (building houses, vehicles, ships and rich forest resources), the American woodworking machinery manufacturing industry has developed steadily and rapidly. From the 1920s to the early 1980s, the output value of the American woodworking machinery manufacturing industry ranked first in the world.
In recent years, the output value has exceeded 1 billion US dollars, ranking third in the world. The woodworking machinery manufacturing industry is a relatively small enterprise in the United States. In the 1990s, there were about 280 companies engaged in this industry, of which less than 100 companies had more than 20 employees. The output value of these companies accounted for more than 85% of this industry in the United States. The output value of the entire industry was 886 million US dollars, 1 billion US dollars, and 1.1 billion US dollars in 1987, 1992, and 1996 respectively. The current number of employees is about 10,000. The United States is the world’s largest producer of wood-based panels, the largest furniture consumer, the largest producer and consumer of lumber, and also the largest importer of woodworking machinery. The demand for woodworking machinery in the United States is huge, and domestic machinery is in short supply. The American woodworking machinery market is a big stage for the display and sales of woodworking machinery in the world. Whoever occupies this stage is equivalent to occupying one of the main markets for woodworking machinery in the world.
