ANAHEIM, California —
The excitement was palpable for multiple reasons as Informa Markets Engineering West kicked off on August 10 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Not only was it one of the first major trade shows to return to the U.S. market, it was also the first major trade show to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, where it has been a fixture for 30 years. Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu presided over a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by senior executives from both organizations.
Informa Markets Engineering West is the leading trade show for advanced design and manufacturing, bringing together established manufacturing brands such as Medical Device & Manufacturing West (MD&M), WestPack, Automation & Technology Expo (ATX) West, Plastec West, Pacific Design & Manufacturing (D&M) and CannPack. This year, the show attracted global leaders in smart manufacturing and 3D printing to its Design. Engineer. Build. conference, held August 10-12.

“We are thrilled to be back in Anaheim, where we have served the industry for more than 30 years,” said Hayley Haggarty, Group Events Director, Informa Markets. “This event is more than just a large trade show and hundreds of meetings over three days; it’s a show dedicated to discovering innovation and connecting the latest technology disruptors with the manufacturers who can bring critical innovations to life.”
On a grand scale, the show also brings much-needed revenue to exhibitors and the host city after a devastating year. “Trade shows generate $325 billion in trade sales and create 1.3 million jobs annually,” said Nancy Walsh, president of Informa Markets. “It’s a much larger and more important industry than people realize. Eighty-five percent of our customers are also small and medium-sized businesses that can’t afford not to do business. While we’re excited to be back at the show for many reasons, one of the most important is that we’re ensuring the economic recovery of so many industries and driving sales for new businesses to help them get back on track after the pandemic.”
