NEW YORK— Mentera, a new brand of Emerald Holding, Inc., will focus on solving a topic that, prior to the COVID crisis, was rarely discussed in corporate America: mental health. In a recent national survey conducted by Mentera, senior executives at more than 500 midsize and large companies identified employee mental health and employee retention as the most important human resources issues.
The Mentera Conference and Expo will feature both virtual and live components. Online, it will connect a community of mental health experts and leaders through a new digital platform. In person, it will feature an inaugural conference and expo, to be held May 16-17, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City. It will be structured to support C-suite executives, VPs/directors, and other business leaders tasked with improving the mental health and well-being of their employees and help them connect with providers to mental health services and solutions, as well as provide educational and networking opportunities.
Leading Mentera are industry veterans Wilfred Krenn, Brand Leader, and Wendy Wiesman, VP/Strategy & Business Development. Krenn joins Emerald with more than 15 years of experience as a mental health startup founder and therapist. Wiesman joins Emerald with more than 15 years in sales and marketing at Blue Cross & Blue Shield and Optum.
“Over the past two years, the trade show and events industry has been hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Wiesman said. “The stress and challenges of organizing and attending events under these conditions have taken their toll and have increased the need for trade show organizers to consider the mental health impact on everyone involved.”
In addition to promoting better mental health at work, she added, “Mentera will work to create targeted leadership within the events industry to help organizers and attendees better cope with this new environment through flexible, innovative and more balanced approaches that can also help address uncertainties that may arise.”
“Improving mental health has become a top priority for employers,” Krenn said. “Our goal is to help connect all key stakeholder groups while focusing their collective expertise to support better mental health solutions and successfully address associated challenges.”
