WASHINGTON, DC — The decision by Destinations International, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and PCMA to consolidate four of their events into one location could become a model for some trade show organizers.
Known as Business Events Industry Week and running March 23-25, the inaugural event will feature the following events, all scheduled to take place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
· March 23: Destinations International Convention Sales and Services Summit, plus a series of PCMA leadership meetings
· March 24: IAEE Women’s Leadership Forum and PCMA Foundation Visionary Awards
· March 25: Destination Showcase, a joint venture between Destinations International and PCMA
The combined program, which is expected to attract more than 3,000 business event planners from associations and corporations, destination planning professionals and industry suppliers, is billed as “a week of community, commerce, content, awards and advocacy to unite the global business events industry and strengthen the power of business events to advance economies and social good.”
“Having these major industry events happening simultaneously in the same week makes perfect sense to find the best way to accommodate busy schedules,” said David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA, IAEE president and CEO. “Collaboration has never been more important, and time has never been more valuable.” Organizers also plan to add additional events to the week each year.
