ARLINGTON, Virginia — Big changes are underway at the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing uncrewed systems, robotics and autonomy. The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) has announced a partnership with Messe Düsseldorf North America, Inc. (MDNA) to co-host its XPONENTIAL trade show, the world’s leading event in its field, beginning in 2023.
The partnership will allow XPONENTIAL to expand its reach to user communities and new market entrants by leveraging MDNA’s parent company, Germany’s Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, one of the world’s largest international trade show organizers. According to an AUVSI spokesperson, XPONENTIAL will remain in the United States and the show will continue as planned from May 8-11, 2023 in Denver and April 22-25, 2024 in San Diego. Event organizers are in discussions with additional U.S. cities to host the 2025 and 2026 shows.
XPONENTIAL attracts 8,000 attendees each year to its 200+ educational sessions featuring the industry’s top minds, as well as its XPO trade show, where more than 500 companies showcase the latest technologies in drones, robotics and screw systems. The show also features a space, Startup Xcelerator, for emerging companies in the industry.
The 2022 show, themed “Where Autonomy Meets Society,” was held April 25-28 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, and marked AUVSI’s 50th anniversary. Addressing the audience, Brian Wynne, AUVSI President and CEO, introduced Tom Mitchell, MDNA President, saying, “They have earned our partnership and our hearts by demonstrating their enthusiasm for growing the show, our AUVSI community, and how our industry is continually advancing and evolving. They bring the reach, scale, and leverage that will allow us to focus on the things we do uniquely 365 days a year outside of XPONENTIAL.”
“Associations are built on an open concept,” Wynne continued. “We’re trying to get more and more people working for a common cause. The more members we have, the more relevant and powerful we are, the more we move forward as a community.”
