WASHINGTONDC — The annual Leaders Hall of Fame inductees were announced this week by the Events Industry Council (EIC), as well as other winners of its annual Global Awards, which recognize leadership, innovation and social impact in the business events sector.
The winners of these prestigious awards will be honoured on 10 October, just before the start of IMEX America in Las Vegas. Registration for the awards ceremony, which will take place from 5pm to 8:30pm at ARIA Resort & Casino, is now open and tickets can be purchased here.
This year’s EIC Hall of Fame inductees are:
- Larry Alexander, President and CEO (retired), Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau
- Sandy Biback, CMP emeritus, CMM, founder, Meeting Professionals Against Human Trafficking
- Dr. Krzysztof Celuch, CEO, Celuch Consulting
- Noor Ahmad Hamid, Director of Operations, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau
- Bob McClintock, Executive Vice President of Convention Centers, ASM Global
- Butch Spyridon, president and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation.
The six winners join 143 previous recipients, each of whom have had a significant impact on the global business events industry.

This year’s Pacesetter Award recipients, which recognize emerging leaders whose forward-thinking and innovative approach have led to revolutionary changes that are driving the industry forward today, are David Hidalgo, Show Director, IBTM Americas – RX, and Katharina Path, Convention Marketing Manager, Frankfurt Convention Bureau.
Recipients of the Social Impact Award, which recognizes extraordinary efforts in the areas of people, planet and prosperity, are Melva LaJoy Legrand, CMP, DES, CEO of LaJoy Plans and Dr. Joan Su, Ph.D., CHE, CHIA, CEM, Director of Graduate Education in Event Management/Associate Professor, Iowa State University and Sustainable Events Forum.
The recipients of the Adaptation and Innovation Award, which recognizes extraordinary efforts by an individual or organization in the areas of adaptation and innovation to ensure the relevance of our industry today and in the future, are Manolita Moore, MBA, CEM, COO, Simulocity, LLC; Terry Tsao, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Taiwan, SEMI; and Yulita Osuba, Director of Sales, Marketing, Event Management and Exhibitor Services (retired), Orange County Convention Center.
